    how can we not?

Include Rutgers as a national title contender now? With the losses of Auburn, Texas, Cal and Tennesse, If they beat West Virgina, Rutgers is my #4 team in the country. Florida still has an SEC championship game to play and today they showed me nothing against South Carolina. Going to be very interesting last week or 2.

But the "if" they beat WVU is a big if. I don't think Louisville beats WVU if Slaton doesn't get injured and Rutgers has to play at WVU with a healthy Slaton. I do agree if they win they should and will make a huge leap in the BCS standings.

    Re: how can we not?

I don't want to take anything away from what Rutgers has done this year but a National Title Contender, come on, give me 1 more opponent other than WVU and The Ville that they have on their schedule worth mentioning this year. Most teams in the Pac Ten, Big Ten, and SEC have tougher half conference schedules than Rutgers has for the year.

VOL is right. Their schedule is what will keep them from playing for a national title. It's the way the BCS is set up.
Their a hard team not to pull for. Their the underdogs. But the BCS system and their schedule will keep them from a shot at a national title.
I know that isn't right. But to many who vote if your not a team who has all this national recognition, year in and year out. Your not likely to get a shot. Plus your schedule means alot.
It don't seem right. But that is how it is.

    Re: how can we not?

Let's just say that either West Virginia or Louisville had finished the season undefeated....should either of them be able to play in the championship game?

Louisville schedule: ... West Va. Schedule:
    Kentucky W 59-28 ... Marshall W 42-10
    Temple W 62-0 ... E Washington W 52-3
    Miami (FL) W 31-7 ... Maryland W 45-24
    Kansas State W 24-6 ... E Carolina W 27-10
    Middle Tenn. W 44-17 ... Mississippi St W 42-14
    Cincinnati W 23-17 ... Syracuse W 41-17
    Syracuse W 28-13 ..... Connecticut W 37-11
    West Virginia W 44-34 .... Louisville L 44-34
    Rutgers L 28-25 ...... Cincinnati W 42-24
Nov 18 South Florida .... Nov 16 Pittsburg
Nov 25 Pittsburgh ..... Nov 25 South Fl
    Dec 2 Connecticut ..... Dec 2 Rutgers

Tough Schedules w/ top 25 teams? I don't think so. I know lots of people were pushing for either of these teams to play in the national championship and to say that Rutgers shouldn't is hypocritical.

HMMM.... seems as the season winds along and the guys that are playing seasons that hinge on 2 games get beat in one of them the BCS is doing about what it is set up to do.

    Re: how can we not?

no way should you make it to the NC game if you have been beaten by an unranked team who loses to unranked UCLA the following week. If Arkansas wins out over Miss State, LSU, and then Florida in the SEC championship game I think they deserve the shot. I know they lost to USC at the first of the year but that's not the same Arkansas team that we see today. But more than likely it will be the Mich./OSU winner vs. Notre Dame or USC.

Who does Ohio St. play other than Texas and Michigan? Texas has been a little overated as well.
